Samuel K. Fisher of Peach Bottom was riding a non-motorized scooter in the 1500 block of Slate Hill Road in Drumore when he was hit by a passing car on Aug. 25, the authorities told Daily Voice.
He became "unconscious with severe injuries," and was being airlifted to Lancaster General Hospital when he "succumbed to his injuries," Pennsylvania State Police Trooper James Grothey said.
An investigation by PA State Police determined Samuel exited his driveway into the road "without ensuring the roadway was clear" and the rear of his scooter collided with an SUV going north — ejecting him 84 feet from the roadway.
His accidental death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries, according to the coroner's office.
The SUV driver was unharmed and remained on the scene, PSP explained.
PSP and the coroner's office were assisted by the Lancaster Patrol Unit, Robert Fulton Fire Company, and Wakefield EMS.
Samuel was born in West Chester on May 24, 2012, to Jacob S. and Rachel S. Stoltzfus Fisher and they all attended the Old Order Amish Church, according to his obituary.
He is survived by his parents, four siblings, and his grandparents Samuel K. and Priscilla F. Stoltzfus Fisher of Peach Bottom, Annie L. Stoltzfus Stoltzfus wife of Jonas Beiler of Danville.
The funeral service took place at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28 and he was buried in the Wakefield Amish Cemetery. Friends.
